We have all heard about "free credit reports". If you have ever seen a free credit report offer and then tried to obtain your report, chances are there was a catch before you could view it. There is a way to obtain your credit file once a year for free from each of the three credit bureaus. The three credit bureaus are Equifax, Transunion, and Experian. These agencies use software developed by the Fair Isaac Company (FICO) to analyze your information and summarize your credit rating by a numeric score. Equifax calls it's score the "Beacon" score. TransUnion calls it's score "FICO Classic". Experian calls it's score the "FICO Risk Model". Maybe you have heard some of these terms mentioned if you have ever purchased something by means of credit. It has come to the attention of bhamalrealestate.blogspot.com that some people do not know "it is the law, you can request a copy of your credit report for free once a year, or if you have been denied credit for any reason within 60 days from the date of application." What is not included is your credit scores, which will have to be purchased seperately. Your free report will disclose all of the current and past account histories, balances, & inquiries made over the past 81 months. The telephone numbers to each of the 3 bureaus and annualcreditreport.com have been provided at the bottom of this entry. Also, if there is any incorrect information being reported, you may dispute the items by submitting a statement regarding the inaccuracies online. Hopefully, this information has helped in clarifying your rights to your credit file.
